Players “Break In” to Explore and Search for the Alien Ship as they Solve Puzzles and Peel Back Layers of the Expanding 3D Game

BELOIT, Wis. (January 22, 2021) — PlayMonster announces the launch of Break In™ Area 51. It’s the latest game available in the company’s successful Break In collaborative game series. This game line, which is considered a “movie in a box”, is an immersive and challenging group gameplay experience. It’s a team activity unlike any other—and it begins the moment you lift the lid off the game box. Inside, you will see a 3D shape with graphics representing the area you are trying to break into.

To escape, you must first… Break In™! In the Break In Area 51 edition of the game, players take on the role of the alien breaking into Area 51. The alien is trying to retrieve its captured ship before it’s dismantled. The added twist with this game is the alien must hurry before he gets trapped on Earth. A team of players opens the box of challenges where solving one layer reveals another. Players must uncover symbols, numbers and colors to break in to Area 51. Hidden elements will help players complete the final puzzle.

The instructions tell you to STOP and make sure everyone is ready before you begin—get your cards laid out and settle in with all the players. Read the instructions and then begin looking for clues to solve puzzles. Soon, you will be told to open the game board and unfold the first of three layers, expanding your board and revealing the next layer you have to explore to uncover clues that will lead you further inside. It’s a one-of-a-kind unboxing experience! Along the way, you’ll encounter many strange things and complete amazing challenges using clever hints and a unique solution system. The final puzzle leads you to your goal!

Break In Area 51, at a difficulty level of 3 out of 4, will be a thrill for game nights for up to 6 players, ages 12+. Once you succeed you even walk away with a momento of your achievement!

PLAYMONSTER EXTENDS GLOBAL BRAND PRESENCE WITH REBRANDING OF INTERPLAY UK LTD

(January 19, 2021) – PlayMonster LLC and Interplay UK Ltd (Interplay) are pleased to announce that Interplay will be rebranded as PlayMonster, beginning immediately and continuing through 2021. This rebranding strategy reflects the vision for the future and further strengthens PlayMonster’s global position in the toy industry. PlayMonster UK Ltd will remain a subsidiary of PlayMonster LLC, headquartered in the newly furbished High Wycombe office with its own UK team and no change to staff roles or responsibilities continuing to be led by Managing Director Adrian Whyles. As Strategy Games Gain Popularity Among Consumers, PlayMonster Reconfigures its Line to Offer Something for Everyone

BELOIT, Wis. (November 16, 2020) — PlayMonster has created three new strategy games to appeal to various ages and interests, all featuring stunning graphics and exciting game play!

Trailz™ is the down-to-the-earth strategy game where teams of shrooms and slugs face off to out-smart and out-maneuver each other to get to the other side of the ground (board)! It’s a light-hearted and unconventional theme for a strategy game, which adds extra fun and appeals to a wider audience, making strategy games more accessible. Kids can play the game, and adults can play with kids, and use as little or as much strategy as they want! It’s a great way to get a younger generation interested in strategy play! This cleverly simple, yet challenging game is for 2 players, ages 7 and up.

The second game, Reign™, focuses on the excitement and player elimination of battle royale play, and adds the unique element of a “shrinking” break-away game board. Four different factions—Droids, Samurais, Barbarians and Super Soldiers—are each controlled by one player, and fight to be the last one standing on a tumultuous piece of land. As they race to safety and fight their opponents, natural disasters take out chunks of the land (game board) and take any players occupying that space with them. The game is different each time you play, so a strategy you used previously may not work again! It’s an innovative and unpredictable game for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up.

Windward™ is a more in-depth strategy game that began on Kickstarter, where it was fully funded in the first 33 minutes of its campaign. The game features awe-inspiring artwork and high-quality game pieces worthy of collectors. Game play revolves around an intricate, immersive world where players strive to become the most notorious captain on the gaseous planet of Celus. They can become the master of the skies by hunting leviathans, plundering opponents, and using cunning maneuvers to harness the power of the ever-changing wind. It’s a different game each time it’s played, and strategies have to morph and adapt to that change! For 2 to 5 players, ages 14 to adult.

PLAYMONSTER CHALLENGES YOU TO THE #SILLYSEAFINGERCHALLENGE, IN HONOR OF #WORLDOCTOPUSDAY

BELOIT, WIS (October 8, 2020) – In celebration of #WorldOctopusDay, PlayMonster is challenging kids and families to spend the day in the life of an octopus, by showing all the cool and funny things they can do with their Stacktopus Silly Sea Fingers. PlayMonster is calling it the #SillySeaFingerChallenge and is encouraging followers to share their funny photos on social media with the hashtag.  There is only one day a year dedicated to these amazing creatures and PlayMonster has found a cheeky way to celebrate!

Stacktopus may seem easy…but when you’re wearing the Silly Sea Fingers, it becomes silly, competitive fun! To play, players have to race to stack colored cups to match the designs on the colorful cards—but there’s a twist! Each player must wear three silly sea fingers and use only those fingers to grasp, hold and maneuver the cups! CAUTION: It gets really silly and really funny!

“Joining in and celebrating World Octopus Day is a no-brainer for us,” said Lisa Wuennemann, Master Marketing Monster at PlayMonster. “Stacktopus is a great way for families to play together and to become interested and curious about Octopuses. Octopus come in all shapes, colors and sizes and there is so much to know about these underwater cephalopods. Some live in very shallow waters while the Giant Pacific Octopus is known to live in depths down to 6,600 ft (2000 m). Octopus fossils date back to over 300 million years, making them even older than dinosaurs. Experts say that they’ve survived for so long because of the 500 million neurons located in their arms and brains, making them extremely intelligent.

PLAYMONSTER RENAMES THIS MONTH #SETEMBER IN HONOR OF SET, AMERICA’S FAVORITE CARD GAME

Iconic Game of Visual Perception Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary

BELOIT, Wis. (September 15, 2020) — The iconic game of family visual perception has reached its 30th anniversary this month. Invented by Marsha Jean Falco back in 1990, SET has been successfully challenging players to race to find as many SETs as they can, in order to win! SET not only provides players with fast-paced fun, but also builds skills of perception and exercises the brain. To celebrate 30 years of this timeless classic, PlayMonster has renamed September to #SETember. To commemorate the milestone, every Sunday, otherwise known as #SETSundays, is dedicated to challenging PlayMonster’s social media to solve SET puzzles.

The idea for the card game SET has a surprising origin. Back in 1974, Falco was studying the genetics of animals like cows and German Shepherds, in Cambridge, England. To keep track of all her data, Marsha created file cards with blocks of information for each animal. Rather than writing out numbers each time, she drew symbols to represent the information. Each animal had a different combination of symbols. Marsha began sharing her findings with veterinarians. To explain the math behind different combinations, she used the cards and symbols. While listening to Marsha, a veterinarian got excited and asked, “So if you combine these you have a set?” At that moment, inspiration struck! Marsha saw the fun in finding different combinations and was inspired to create her first game: SET. Over the years, she refined the game play by using her family and friends as test subjects. In 1990 SET was officially released!

“This is a moment of celebration for us; a moment to look back to remember the past 30 years,” says Lisa Wuennemann, Master Marketing Monster. “While back-to-school looks a little different for everyone this year, the need for children to exercise their minds and have fun remains the same, and what better way to do that other than with one of the most iconic card games of all time!”
