(December 15, 2016) – PlayMonster is proud to announce that it has been named a finalist for a company-record five, Toy of The Year (TOTY) Awards, the industry’s gold-standard and one of its most revered accolades. The company garnered nominations across four different categories: Activity Toy of the Year for My Fairy Garden, Game of the Year for Yeti in My Spaghetti, and two nods in Specialty Toy of the Year for Automoblox and Perplexus Q-bot. Additionally, Wonder Crew, PlayMonster’s newly licensed toy line, is a finalist for Rookie Toy Company of the Year.

 

The TOTY Awards are frequently referred to as the “Oscars” of the toy industry, and the finalists were announced last month from a field of more than 700 nominations. Finalists were determined by elite members of the toy industry, including retail buyers, inventors/designers, academics, journalists, trade media spokespeople and bloggers.

 

“In the toy industry, it’s an honor to have just one TOTY finalist, and it’s exceptional and exciting to have five in one year,” said Bob Wann, Chief PlayMonster of PlayMonster. “It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team as we worked tirelessly to transition in the marketplace from Patch Products to PlayMonster.”

 

PlayMonster announced its official transition from Patch Products to PlayMonster in February 2016 to better reflect the company’s continued commitment to provide play for all ages. In previous years, the company has earned single TOTY nods, so five finalists this year is a company record.

Co-Creator of Award-Winning STEM Building Sets Roominate®

Bestowed Toy & Game Innovation Award at ChiTAG

 

November 22, 2016 – BELOIT, WI – PlayMonster announced that Alice Brooks, co-founder of the company’s STEM-focused building line Roominate®, was honored with a Rising Star Inventor of the Year TAGIE Award at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair’s (ChiTAG) ninth annual awards ceremony.

Roominate was designed to inspire girls to build, and gained widespread recognition and popularity when Brooks and her partner landed a deal with Mark Cuban on “Shark Tank.” PlayMonster has since acquired Roominate, bolstering Brooks’ resources to further innovate Roominate’s award-winning building sets.

Brooks adds the TAGIE to a growing list of awards and recognitions including being named in Forbes 2015 “30 Under 30” list and Forbes 2016 “30 under 30 All-Star Alumni” list. This past summer she was invited to attend the White House conference “Breaking Down Gender Stereotypes in Media and Toys,” and asked to be a member of a panel at the 2016 Forbes Women’s Summit, “The Lives You Impact: The Role of Culture in Educating and Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders.”  Brooks holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford. She started Roominate with one simple mission-open up possibilities for girls by showing them that creativity and engineering are fun.

BELOIT, Wis.— Roominate is an award-winning line of complete building sets that are designed for girls in order to bridge the gender gap in STEM. The line was started with one simple mission: open up possibilities for girls by showing them that creativity and engineering are fun.

PlayMonster Reveals Four New Games Perfect for Parties and Family Game Nights!

 

BELOIT, Wis.— PlayMonster is excited to announce four new games; each catered to excite and delight according to age and category. Whether the consumer is a fan of family, dice or party games, there is something for everyone – each with its own special twist to add laughter and a new unique way of play for the category.

 

Prove It™ — Bet who can do the task best, then Prove It™! There are four categories: Mad Skills (use your skill!), Know-How (use your noggin!), Fingers Crossed (it’s all about luck!) and Buddy System (teamwork!). For example, a card may read, “Bet how far you can launch a card, flicking it finger-football style!” Now the two competitors bet back and forth until one person ends the betting by saying “Prove it!”, and now the other player must perform the task to get the point! It’s fun for the whole family, but remember…It’s Easier Said Than Done!™ For 3 to 8 players, ages 6 and up.
